Marla + Greg's Elegant Minimalist Wedding in Rhode Island!

There's nothing more special to us than learning all about our brides' love stories and their journey to finding the perfect dress. Most times our brides simply fall in love with their Evelyn Bridal dress when they try it on. But sometimes, finding that special dress comes in the form of an epiphany, or a special sign that adds an extra layer of significance. Our bride Marla had just that experience and we adore her story--read all about it below!

Marla and Greg tied the knot at the Belle Mer in beautiful Rhode Island. The wedding featured minimalist but oh so elegant clean white decor with hints of greenery. Marla could not have looked more stunning in her wedding gown. She wore our Whynn, a sophisticated tulle ball gown featuring an illusion neckline and delicate crystal beaded feather-like Alençon lace, and she styled it with dainty hairpins and a lovely long veil.

What was the process of finding your dream dress like?

I went to many stores.  All of the dresses were nice but ones I had seen before so many times.  That strapless lace one with the added belt, that high neck white simple one with the low back.... everything was too mundane.  When I found this dress, pink, lace, feather detail, I knew it was the one...

The feather detail was also special to me.  Since my sister passed, my mother and I notice feathers everywhere.  I have friends who send me photos of the feathers they see. It was so special to incorporate that into my dress.  I also mirrored that detail in my hair accessory and added a feather to my bouquet.

How did you and your husband meet?

We met at a party at foxwoods casino.  One of my friends invited me, and my other friend invited Greg.  I saw him and struck up a conversation. We have been inseparable ever since.

How did he propose?

My sister passed away 6 years ago.  She used to have a small jewelry business and I took it over when she died - a nice way to keep her legacy alive.  As part of this business, I would sell jewelry at the SoWa open market in Boston on Sundays and Greg would help me set up and pack up...

One Sunday, he arrived to help me pack up.  When we were finished he asked if I had all of my boxes and I said yes.  He said "I think you forgot one box"  and got down on one knee and opened the ring box.  I first tearfully said "is this happening right now?", he laughed and said yes, and I hugged him and said "YES!".

What were your favorite wedding moments?

Saying our vows to each other outside on the only beautiful day in May. Being with our loved ones for this amazing day was everything we could have imagined.

What did you love most about planning your wedding?

Finding the right dress.  I knew immediately it was the one; Food tasting - need I say more?; Greg loved being involved in all of the decisions which I dont think is very common.  I loved having his help on everything.

Did you have a wedding theme?

No theme - I wanted to keep everything clean/white with a hint of greenery.  The venue was more than gorgeous, we just needed pretty flowers and we were all set.

Congratulations to the beautiful couple! Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness!
